Educational Media Samples

I have over twenty years of experience in the fields of higher education and corporate training development. My expertise lies in media content creation and instructional design. I teach online, hybrid and face-to-face courses in higher education, and I develop online instructional modules for both corporate and higher education clients.

The Benefits of Interactive eLearning” is a custom interactive microlearning module that briefly shows how teaching through interactive media can be more engaging than passive learning methods. It was created using Articulate 360 and Storyline.

The Development Process” is an interactive infographic created using Adobe Animate.

Film Appreciation” is an undergraduate course I teach online. This preview above shows a module from that course that explores sports as a topic in film studies.

I enjoy experimenting with technology to make learning content more engaging. For one of my online advertising courses, I created an animated character of myself and used it to create a mini-lecture discussing six popular advertising strategies used in the broadcast commercial industry. The character was created with Photoshop and animated using Adobe’s Character Animator software. The background video was created using Adobe Premiere with After Effects.

Above is another example of how I like to use motion graphics design to enhance elearning modules. The above clip was created for an online training module for the City of Roanoke, Virginia about ways of providing feedback during performance evaluation processes. Elements for the clip were created in Photoshop and animated using After Effects.

The above video was created for the national tax firm Cherry Bekaert. The YouTube upload is not interactive, but the original video was created and edited using Camtasia, and was published as a SCORM module for the company’s LMS.

This “Behind the Scenes” video features students from my film production course. Over a 16 week semester, students wrote, produced, directed and edited a short comedy movie titled “Pushing Donuts.” The result was a fun yet valuable learning experience for students learning about the complexities of single-camera, narrative video production.
