When teaching motion graphics to college students, one of the first major assignments I give to help them become familiar with the interface and workflow of After Effects is a kinetic typography project. I use this piece of audio and provide students with artwork components to animate this eight-second soundbite. Students learn quickly how time consuming and tedious it can be to match timing and fill eight seconds of dialogue with dynamic, moving content. This is the example project I provide and students have to recreate it using their own style and technique. Special thanks to Professor Terrence Dollard of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke for providing this terribly silly ad-libbed soundbite during a skit that we recorded for a project circa 2015.
